The Collective
The collective is a project in which we create social network platform to get our photography out on the internet! We had to create our own website e.ge Instagram, facebook etc.. for ourselves and then one for the whole group. We were split into 4 different groups; Tumblr (my group) Instagram, Flickr and Facebook.

Evaluation
Over the past 5 weeks at pca, I have learnt about many things,
including things like how to use a film camera, an induction on lighting, depth
of field, shutter speed etc… Also the most important thing, starting our first
project “my visual diary” I have enjoyed taking part in this project and
reflecting on my everyday life.
During this project I have learnt that I have developed researching
skills, for example we did a project on band photography and I decided to
research the photographer ‘Tom Oldham’ I found his work really cool because he
took photos of recent music and sport artists. I also learnt a lot about myself
in general, I have made lots of new friends so I suppose I learnt that I am
able to adapt to new places and new people.
I feel like my final piece did meet the brief, although I did have
issues with printing at first. I chose an image that I really liked and because
it hadn’t come straight off of my camera, it was quite pixelated, I also didn’t
have the image saved on my camera so I had to choose a different one. Even
though I had this problem I am still happy with the outcome of my print and
hopefully it will be good enough. I felt
like the image that I eventually chose was well in focus and well exposed. I
edited it from colour to black and white, changing the brightness and contrast
to make it darker and to fit how I wanted it to look.
I think if I could change what I had done I would’ve tried to take more
photo’s during my day to show what I had been doing, but I think I did enough
writing and I took enough photo’s, I would just like to take more if I did it
again.
I also feel as if my photoshop skills have become better as we had a lesson on it, and I think that I will be able to use it more in the future, I did roughly know how to use it before as I did media studies for GCSE but I feel like the lesson we had went into a bit more depth and showed me how to use it better.
Overall, I think that I have been quite organised and managed my time well during this project, I have done mostly every day over the past 4-5 weeks. I also think that I've worked well in teams and progressed in my photography skills since I started here.

Monday 5th October 2015
Today was our last day doing our blogs, as tomorrow we have our first assessment!! So today we mostly spent finishing off our blogs and writing up our evaluations for our final print's. We also got taken through all of the different things that we should mention in our blogs and what we've covered over the past 5 weeks (which was an insane amount may I add) You don't actually realize how much you've done until it's written in front of you!
Today was also a very foggy/rainy/muggy day, great for taking photo's in. So I thought I would take some cool pictures on my camera. I had a long bus journey home and when I arrived back to where I live, the fog looked incredible so I took some photo's and messed around with the ISO and different white balances but unfortunately they all came out quite dark and blurry where it was so foggy and just getting dark. I took a few on my camera and a few on my phone, and you can definitely tell the difference between the two. I thought I would put in a couple to just compare and even though they aren't the greatest pictures, it shows that I had a try.

Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2015
Today was a Saturday and that means work! Usually I do waitressing at work but today I was put to work in the gift shop. This includes being the first person people see when they enter where I work and working out how to use two very confusing tills, but thankfully I grasped the hang of it after a while. I had my lunch break at 12:30, which meant I could eat, so I had some delicious chips, with a tonne of ketchup on!!!
When I got home, I didn't really do much, I get home at 6 in the evening so I usually just have my dinner and watch a bit of TV before going to bed.
Today is Sunday and today I don't have to work!! So I had a lie in until about 9:30, before getting up and getting dressed to go out with my dad around Launceston to run some errands. We started off by going to B&Q to have a look at some colour ideas for when I get my bedroom decorated. I chose a mocha colour and a dark brown in the end. We then went to some other places to buy shoes, a sleeping bag, hay and sawdust for our rabbits and a bone for our dog. We then went to Tesco to see if they had any photographic paper so I could print off my final piece for my course and they didn't have any!! I live in quite an isolated area so there aren't a lot of places to go to find things like photographic paper, but we eventually found some in argos!!

Thursday 1st October
Well before I say anything, omg it's October that means its nearly Halloween!!!
lol anyway today I didn't do much to start off with, I was mainly doing a few chores here and there before I went out to meet my friend Karina, she had school until 3:15 so I had to wait around a bit, but I was okay with that. So I went off to meet her at 3:15 and we went to new look, I bought a cute new dress, which I loveeee. We then walked around town a bit, which is always kinda boring because our town has absolutely NOTHING. We then went to Tesco and bought some food at like 5:30 because we were starving, and by food I mean cookies and oasis lmao. But yeah today was a pretty chilled/average day, but I enjoyed it, so yeah.
