Evaluation
Over the past 5 weeks at pca, I have learnt about many things,
including things like how to use a film camera, an induction on lighting, depth
of field, shutter speed etc… Also the most important thing, starting our first
project “my visual diary” I have enjoyed taking part in this project and
reflecting on my everyday life.
During this project I have learnt that I have developed researching
skills, for example we did a project on band photography and I decided to
research the photographer ‘Tom Oldham’ I found his work really cool because he
took photos of recent music and sport artists. I also learnt a lot about myself
in general, I have made lots of new friends so I suppose I learnt that I am
able to adapt to new places and new people.
I feel like my final piece did meet the brief, although I did have
issues with printing at first. I chose an image that I really liked and because
it hadn’t come straight off of my camera, it was quite pixelated, I also didn’t
have the image saved on my camera so I had to choose a different one. Even
though I had this problem I am still happy with the outcome of my print and
hopefully it will be good enough. I felt
like the image that I eventually chose was well in focus and well exposed. I
edited it from colour to black and white, changing the brightness and contrast
to make it darker and to fit how I wanted it to look.
I think if I could change what I had done I would’ve tried to take more
photo’s during my day to show what I had been doing, but I think I did enough
writing and I took enough photo’s, I would just like to take more if I did it
again.
I also feel as if my photoshop skills have become better as we had a lesson on it, and I think that I will be able to use it more in the future, I did roughly know how to use it before as I did media studies for GCSE but I feel like the lesson we had went into a bit more depth and showed me how to use it better.
Overall, I think that I have been quite organised and managed my time well during this project, I have done mostly every day over the past 4-5 weeks. I also think that I've worked well in teams and progressed in my photography skills since I started here.
