Today we had a lecture on 'deconstructing images'. This is when you take an image and look into the compositional elements that make up a photo, so that it's layers can be deconstructed for analysis. We looked at a bunch of different images and went through all of the different elements e.g how we read images, rule of thirds, use of line, use of movement, exaggerated space, the gaze, frames within frames, use of narrative, photographic viewpoint and use of humour. As you can see I have made an attempt at deconstructing one of my images - in the photo the model is turned away which gives a less direct and less personal approach to the image, which in this case makes the image, if the model was turned around there would be a less dramatic view on this image. She is sat on the end of the bench, however,in the case of rule of thirds she is actually placed in the centre, therefor, the eye goes straight to her. As you can see, the bottom of the image is quite shadowy, therefor if they sky was cropped out then it would make the image a lot darker, adding a more moody and sad effect.
