Today we had a lecture on unit 9 which is opportunities and progression in art and design. It was basically a talk on what we'd like to do in the future whether it be to go to university or to get a full time job. Personally, I would prefer to go to university first before getting a full time job. The universities i'm looking into at the moment are Falmouth and Brighton or to even try and get my degree in photography at pca. These uni's have the sort of courses i'd like to do - which are either photography, journalism or interior design - I haven't quite decided which I'd like to do yet, all I know is that I want to stay in the creative industry. I would also love the opportunity to study abroad; as something else I'd love to do when I leave college is to go travelling - although I know this is costly the chance to travel is like heaven to me. At this moment in time I'd like to keep an open mind on everything as I don't want to jump straight into a decision now and regret it in the future. There are many plus sides to going to university, for example - we will be moving onto something that we are committed to and that we enjoy, we'll make new friends, have a good social life and come out of it all with a degree, however, uni has its negative sides too - we'll be away from home - our normal day to day life will be completely changed and it also isn't cheap - yes we have student loans etc...but you still have the costs of other things along with the cost of uni itself. Then once we finish uni - being in the creative industry along with many, many others it can be quite challenging to find a job which you enjoy and that pays well for you to have a nice lifestyle. Overall, I feel as if university would be a fun and amazing experience which will help me get a kick start in life.
